Come and see the colour and spectacle of dragon boat racing during the Chinese New Year Festival - 4th and 5th of February.

Arguably the ultimate team sport, dragon boat racing has evolved from its cultural origins in ancient China. It’s a fun and social sport that can be pursued by individuals of all ability levels and all ages over 12.

Each dragon boat in this event has an ornately carved dragon’s head at the bow and a tail in the stern. The paddles symbolise the dragon’s claws, the drum represents the heart.

On the 4th and 5th of February, Victorian dragon boat clubs will be performing dragon boat racing demonstrations along the Yarra River near Queensbridge Square.
