Established since 1968, the Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne (CYSM) has always been at the forefront of Melbourne’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
In 2017, to welcome the Year of the Rooster, CYSM will continue its tradition of celebrating and promoting Chinese culture with a performance entitled ‘A Tale from the Three Kingdoms’. This will feature a spectacular display of Lion Dancing, Dragon Dancing, Martials Arts and Drumming performances concluding with an explosive Chinese Firecracker finale in the heart of Melbourne’s Chinatown.
Following this performance, the festivities will continue as teams of Lions will perform traditional Chinese New Year blessings to all the businesses in Chinatown. Listen out for the Chinese Firecracker displays the rest of the day and grab a photo with our Jade Dragon parading through the streets.
